Beach Trip!

We went Pensacola, Florida this week for a last minute vacation. We literally decided a few weeks ago that we were ready for a vacation. Obviously, it needed to be with the kids because C still nurses 7-8 times a day. Plus, there is nooooo way I could leave him when he's so tiny! We hadn't planned our usual late summer beach vacation because we knew Carsten would still be so little. But he has been such dream baby (literally hasn't cried a single time and sleeps around the clock) we decided we should go for it. Have I mentioned how perfectly amazing this little boy is?!

I'm not sure who was more excited... this sweet girl or me!

We usually try to travel with a babysitter or travel to a destination where we have friends and then utilize their babysitter while we are there. We chose Pensacola for the latter reason. One of my oldest friends, Ashley, and her husband lives in Pensacola. So, it was a perfect fit… I get to catch up with a sweet friend and we will have a babysitter. And as a bonus, her in-laws have a gorgeous condo on the beach that they offered to let us use. Soooo sweet and generous of them! :-)

Not sure what happen, but I totally forgot to book our flights until a week before the trip. Yeaaah. Blame it on post-pregnancy brain. Let's just say that is not ideal vacation planning :-/ It all worked out though and thankfully all four of us were on the same flight :-) S has flown so many times that it was no big deal to her, but she was really excited about C's first flight. Obviously he had no idea what was going on and slept most of the way.

She loooved climbing the 'sea wall' and then sliding back down.  Such fun!

It was such a fun and relaxing week! Ashley's family friend/babysitter, Sherry, was super nice and so great with the kids. She came every morning during C's first nap so we could take Sophia to the beach/pool. His first nap is usually 3-4 hours so I put him down every morning before we left, and then she texted me when he was starting to stir so I could go feed him. It was such great timing because we were all ready for lunch and naps at that point anyway. She also watched the kids (well, really just S because C was already in bed) while we went out to dinner a couple of the nights. It made vacation so much more enjoyable not having to disrupt C's nap schedule. And let's be honest… a 3 month old baby doesn't have any business going to the beach for more than a few minutes (if at all). We did take family pictures on the beach one evening. There were a couple cute ones, but more than anything I just wanted to document this season in our lives :-)

This girl loves to collect sea shells (among other things)...

Loving her playground for the week!

Dan and Sophia discovered soooo many fish during all of their snorkeling outings.

Twins :-)
S used the snorkle a few times, but mostly she just held her breath.  I tried it, but couldn't hang with these two.  I can hold my breath for all of five seconds, but these two have huuuuge lung capacity.

I spent a lot of time relaxing and watching them from here :-)

Having a little play time with this cutie in between his naps :-)

His hair is too funny :-)

love him.

We had a lot of jammie snuggle time on vacation too :-)

C is up about forty-five minutes to an hour between naps so each afternoon we had time for a quick trip downstairs to the pool.

Such a little fish!

Love this little monkey!

Obviously S enjoyed herself :-)

Such a fun and relaxing week!

Here are some iPhone pics of our fun trip…
