Dan & Sophia's Baptism (October 2014)

Sophia asked Jesus to come into her heart and be her Lord and Savior last March and we could not be more thrilled! At Easter she told my Dad and he was SO proud.  He announced it to the entire family after he prayed over Easter dinner.  He got very emotional and it was a precious moment that will be etched into my heart forever.

I've never taken for granted what wonderful parents and family I have, but after losing Dad I have a whole new perspective.  My mantra is "find your people and love them hard".  It is super simple, but I think sometimes I let 'life' distract me from the amazing blessings right in front of me.  Anyway… back to the story.

Sophia accepted Christ almost 6 months ago, but we hadn't put any pressure on her to be baptized.  Honestly, it hadn't even been on my radar simply because I had been so overwhelmed with sadness the last few months. During church Dan leaned over and whispered, "I want to get baptized.  It's time." My heart literally soared because this was something I had been praying about for a long time. He was a Christian and accepted Christ as a teenager, but had never made the public proclamation of faith.  I was ecstatic!

We picked the kids up from class and told them what Dan was going to do.  Sophia immediately said "Jesus is in my heart! He died on the cross for me too! I want to get baptized!!" Heart melt all over again. So to make a long story short, Dan got baptized first and then he got to baptize Sophia.  The only thing that could have made it better is if my Dad could have been here with us, but I know he is rejoicing with the angels in Heaven. It was amazing day with a multitude of feelings, but Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and sweet blessings!
