Our fall schedule has been so busy that my birthday totally snuck up on me this year. Thirty-one isn't really anything to get excited about so it really wasn't even on my radar. Our friends and neighbors, Anna and David, had invited us and some other friends over for dinner the following Sunday. It didn't hit me until halfway through the week that it was for my birthday. Can you say Mommy brain?!
Anyway, Anna and I had already planned that she was going to do some pictures for our Christmas card that Sunday afternoon. If you read this blog then you know how difficult it is to get Sophia to pose and/or smile for a picture. So the weeks leading up to the photo shoot we practiced really hard. At least ten times a day I would say, "Show me how you are going to smile for Miss Anna!". Overkill? Maybe. But guess what... it totally worked!!!
We got there and she was ALL smiles! There might have been a few fake smiles but she also gave us some adorable dimpled smiles. We got a ton of great pictures in about 15 minutes! Record time for a photo shoot involving a toddler. Well, at least my toddler :-) I was so happy and relieved that she actually smiled. It definitely helped that she considers Miss Anna one of her best friends :-)
After the photo shoot we went back to Anna and David's and had an fun dinner with our other friend/neighbors Kristin and Brian. Sophia is always thrilled to play with Cora and Haley, and the fact that there was dessert there pretty much made her day. It was such a great birthday! I'm so blessed to have such great friends, and what a bonus that they live just a few houses away!
Aren't her pictures amazing? Anna is an incredible photographer, and you can check her out here. Here are some of our favorite pics:
