The Belcher Family: Happy Easter!

We celebrated Easter this year differently than we normally do. Instead of going to church we watched Dr. Wiles sermon via podcast for the first time (which is incredibly awesome to be able to worship in your jammies!) Then we read the Easter story from the Jesus Storybook Bible (which is an awesome Bible for kids). It breaks it down into smaller stories (Palm Sunday, Last Supper, Good Friday, Jesus is Alive, etc) which we have been reading and talking about for a couple weeks now. S gets pretty hung up on the part where the 'bad people' put Jesus on the cross, but then she gets really excited when He is resurrected from the tomb. I can't say I blame her.

After that we let Sophia do a mini-egg hunt around the house. We had stuffed the plastic eggs the night before with some fun treats (chicks, marshmallows, coins and a couple sweet tarts ). We also gave her two new piggy banks: one for saving and one for tithing at church. We thought we needed to separate the two so she would understand the difference. Eventually we will add another bank for spending, but probably not for a while.

Then for the really fun part...

After she opened all the eggs she then proceeded to 'organize' them (instead of eating the treats.) She is SO our child :-)

Then we got ready to go to brunch at Hackberry Creek. As we were leaving our neighborhood, a turtle was crossing the road (trying to get back to the pond I'm sure). Dan picked it up so that S could see it up close. The turtle started peeing on Dan and S and I couldn't stop laughing. Dan didn't think it was as funny :-)

During brunch the Easter bunny was going around making balloon animals for all the kids at their tables. Of course Sophia was beyond thrilled!

He made her a bunny holding a ball :-)

When better to enjoy your first chocolate croissant if not Easter bunch?!

Next it was on to pictures with the Easter bunny...

Next, we went to the art area they had set up for all the kiddos. S had a blast decorating her ditto sheet. (Y'all know how I feel about those, but there was no plain paper to be found ;-/ )

I love that she decided to decorate the bunny with stickers instead. So creative!

On the way out, there was another booth set up with more balloon people. She requested a balloon ball and once she had it the bunny was old news.

Is this not the saddest picture you have ever seen??? It was pretty windy outside and she lost her grip on the ball. As soon as it hit the ground it popped :-( So I comforted her with hugs and kisses while Daddy ran back inside and found the other bunny balloon. What a sad little girl :-)
