Perfect Day for Dallas Blooms!

We woke up this morning to a beautiful Spring day and decided to spend the morning at the Arboretum in Dallas.  Dallas Blooms was going on and I couldn't wait to get Sophia's 2 1/2 year pictures with all the beautiful flowers.  Once we to the Arboretum, we realized that somehow her white sandals had been left at home.  Uh oh.  So being the stellar parents that we are, we let her walk around most of the morning with bare feet. Dan's rationale was that if she was ever going to go shoeless, this was definitely the place.  Lots of soft grass, no glass containers or pets allowed, etc.  So, yeah, we were those parents with the bare foot child :-)

Sophia was an absolute angel all morning and actually smiled when we asked her too.  To say she loved looking at all the flowers is definitely an understatement.  She probably stopped and smelled close to fifty flowers in just a couple hours.  Luckily she didn't pick any :-)

She also loved getting to stick her toes in the fountain

S loved pretending that she was 'a princess in a magical forest'.  So sweet :-)

Such a happy girl :-)

Love this pretty girl!

About and hour and a half into our morning, I remembered that I had her tap shoes in the car.  So we put those on her and she was thrilled to tap her way through the rest of the Arboretum.
Notice the shoes? Haha!

It was getting close to lunch so we headed to the tea room, which just happens to be one of our favorite places to eat. Well, maybe not Dan's favorite but he was a good sport :-)  Sophia and I do a lot of Mommy-Daughter lunches at the Rose Garden tea room by our house.  So yummy!

The weather was gorgeous so we decided to eat outside and enjoy the live music and scenery.  As soon as Sophia heard the guy on the keyboard she started dancing.  And boy did she dance!  For a solid hour and a half!  We recorded her for about 10 minutes but for some reason I can't get the video to upload.

Oh, and she sang too.  Can you tell?!

There is no doubt that this girl loves to entertain.  At the end of each song she would bow and wait for applause from her audience.  Yes, about two songs in she had gathered an audience.  All she needed was a hat for people to put money in.  Lol!  I wonder how many people walked by and thought, "Why in the world would her parents let her wear tap shoes to the Arboretum?!"

We didn't care because she was absolutely having the time of her life.  And we got to sit back, sip our tea and watch this precious memory unfold.  This is hands down one of our favorite days as parents of this sweet girl.

Two different times, she had a dance partner join her for a couple minutes...

Bowing to her audience :-)

We also ran into one of Sophia's classmates, Kennedy, and her family while we were at the Arboretum.  S was so excited to see her!
Here is sweet Kennedy...

and her cute brother Hudson.

After about an hour and a half, the keyboard guy took a break for lunch and so did we :-)

Before we left, Sophia insisted on 'reading' the map so we would know how to get home.  Funny girl!

All in all, it was a perfect day!

These are some of our favorite edited pictures from that morning...
