We finally decided to stop swaddling C because he breaks out of it every. single. time. This boy HAS to have his arms free and usually they have to be near his face. This has been going on for over a month. So the last couple weeks I've had to double swaddle him (swaddle him with large muslin cloth and then swaddle him in the miracle blanket) because I just keep thinking that he is too young not to need a swaddle. Remember... we swaddled S until she was almost 6 months. She looooved it and never once tried to break out. He is so sweet that he doesn't fuss at all when you swaddle him, but he definitely tries to wiggle out and eventually does.
So I read about this thing in New Zealand called a Peke Moe. It basically helps babies transition from a swaddle to a sleep sack. So I ordered one and tried it the night we got home from the lake. I was expecting some kind of fussing/whining or maybe even crying from our angel baby but NOT even a peep. He went right to sleep and we didn't hear from him until after 7am the next morning.
We have started calling it his Snuggie and he loooves it. His whole body relaxes as soon as you put it on him because he knows what is coming next (which is exactly how S always responded to the swaddle). It's funny how kids are so different... I really need to not worry as much about what S did or didn't do because obviously they are so different.
First night in his Snuggie :-)
Soooooo exciting!
He was out cold even before I got downstairs. Look how he is sleeping.... no wonder he didn't want his arms pinned to his side. Ha!
