Happy Birthday Mommy!

My Mommy turned 30 on November 14th and my Daddy had a very special, very romantic night planned. Well, I had other plans...

I decided to give her a birthday present early by taking a 2 1/2 hour and 4 hour nap that day. That should have been her first clue that I wasn't feeling well! I was still on antibiotics for my month long ear infection so Mommy and Daddy thought it would be okay to leave me at Mimi and Poppa's house for just the night. Boy, were they wrong! I woke up from my second nap around 5pm with a temperature of 104 and completely lethargic. They gave me some Motrin talked about what to do. After a couple minutes I got really sick at my stomach and threw up all over Mommy.

So, like any new parents they panicked calmly called the after-hours nurse to see what to do next. I started having labored breathing while they were on the phone so the nurse told them count my breaths per minute. I was breathing too rapidly and that combined with the fact that I wasn't eating/drinking/walking and had a high fever, had everyone very concerned. The nurse said I needed to go to the emergency room just to be on the safe side. So, instead of Mommy and Daddy driving to the W, they were taking me to the emergency room.

After a few hours, a blood test, a flu test, and a chest x-ray, the doctor decided it was purely the double ear infection that was causing my all the other problems. My white blood cell count had tripled from two days prior even though I was on Augmentin. So, the doctor gave my another Rocephin antibiotic injection and recommended I get tubes as soon as possible.

I know it wasn't exactly how Mommy planned to spend her milestone birthday, but she told me she wouldn't have it any other way!
