Baby Carsten is here!

If you are looking at this on your phone, you may want to switch to a computer.  There are soooo many pictures to see! Enjoy :-)

Sweet baby Carsten Samuel Belcher is here!  8 pounds, 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches of pure love.  He was born at 1:03pm completely overflowing our hearts with love and joy.

Just hanging out waiting to be prepped for surgery.  My mom and one of her sisters :-)

Can you tell how thrilled my parents were?!

I had to drink this DISGUSTING stuff because I guiltily admitted that I had half a pop tart for breakfast.  Seriously... I'm pretty sure it was acid.  The nurses all made me feel like I had broken the law and I kind of think it was more of a punishment than a nausea prevention. Ha!  I know I wasn't supposed to eat or drink after midnight, but I took a much more laid back approach (pretty much consistent with my behavior the entire second pregnancy).  I threw up during my c/s with Sophia on a totally empty stomach so I thought I would try a different approach this time.  And it worked :-)

About to roll down to get my cerclage removed...

Daddy putting on his 'surgery' gear

Sophia was SO excited to meet baby brother!

Oh, how I love this girl!

So precious!

The cerclage removal took about 30 minutes.  It was so cold in the operating room and the minutes felt like hours.  I just prayed the whole time... that everything would go smoothly, that the baby and I would be healthy, that Sophia would adjust well, etc, etc.  All I wanted was for the cerclage and c-section to be over so I could hold my sweet Carsten.  Finally (after what seemed like the longest 30 minutes of my life) they let Dan come in and started the c/s.

This is when they pulled sweet Carsten out of my tummy.  He was not happy about being cold, but we were so happy to finally meet him!  They anesthesiologist pulled the curtain down so Dan and I could get the first glimpse of my baby boy.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the delivery room may be the last time he cried.
He is just soooo sweet!

How beautiful is this boy?!

Dan was beyond proud :-)

From the time Carsten was born he always wants to hold onto our finger/thumb, especially when he is nursing.  He waves his free arm around in the air searching for his 'safety grip'.  Then when he finds it he never lets go.  Even in his sleep.  Aaahhhh... sweet boy.

Daddy got to cut the umbilical cord (which is a rare thing for a c/s baby) :-)

Looking at our newest blessing...

My heart was about to burst with happiness :-)

First of many, many kisses :-)

I find is so funny that both of my children came out ready to eat.  I'm so thankful they were both so good at nursing.

A little bit of dark hair

Seriously... those cheeks are almost edible.

Daddy sent pics to everyone in the waiting room

Finally they removed the curtain and I got to hold my sweet baby boy... aaahhhhh :-)

When Sophia was born I 'shared' her.  I let everyone that was there have a turn holding her as well as everyone that came to visit. I've always remembered how quickly those first hours and days flew by and I really wanted to savor every second.  So... this sweet boy was right here about 99% of the time.

Okay, okay... I did share him a tiny bit with Dan :-)

Seriously... that mouth.  I can't give him enough kisses.

Sophia meeting baby Carsten for the first time.  It is crazy how your perspective changes when you have a newborn.  Suddenly she seemed so old to me when just hours before she was my baby.  Now I feel like she will be going to college any day now.  Sigh.

Sisters first kiss.  Such a sweet moment.

All of us.  So perfectly content.

I'm certain she will always be a Mommy's girl :-)

Baby brother brought her some 'presents' to the hospital (which just happened to be the two things that she has wanted most over the last several months)...
Princess and the Frog movie...
and chocolate milk.  Isn't it sooooo crazy that you can only have chocolate milk at the hospital when your baby brother is born?!  Or juice on when it is your birthday or you're at a hotel?!  So crazy how that works :-)

I'm pretty sure she enjoyed every single drop.

Poppa Kent and Mimi Debbie checking out his dark hair

Mimi Beckie and Poppa Larry meeting C for the first time :-)

Checking him out from head to toe :-)

It was so fun to get to share this beautiful day with our families!

This is what happiness looks like.

I have loved every single second of this sweet boys life.  Looking back to when I had Sophia it seemed like I rushed through everything, eager to get to the next phase because every new milestone was so exciting.  With this little bundle of love I am taking my sweet time.  Because that is exactly what it is. Sweet, sweet time that I will never get back.

He was using his bottom lip as a pacifier :-)

Couldn't you just eat him up?

We are sooooo blessed!
