We are praising the Lord that our sweet Sophia asked Jesus into her heart! On March 16th, 2014 at almost 5/12 years old she made the biggest decision of her life. It has been absolutely amazing to see God working in her life and her heart over the last year. In fact, it has brought me to tears numerous times. I can not wait to see what work God has in store for our girl!
We have prayed and prayed (and continue to pray) for the salvation of our children… that they would turn away from their sins and turn to Jesus as their Lord & Savior. We try to point them to Christ every chance we get, but as a parent you always wonder if you're doing enough. When Sophia told us that she wanted Jesus to come into her heart and be her Savior, we were beyond thrilled! We had a long talk (and have continued to talk about it everyday since) and read various scriptures from the Bible. She said she had already prayed and asked Jesus into her heart. Then Dan led her through the prayer of salvation out loud and we both prayed over her. It was a sweet, joyous time that I will never forget. We are overjoyed that Sophia now has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and can not wait to see her grow in her walk with Him.
The next weekend was Easter and S was SO excited to tell Mimi Debbie and Poppa Kent that she had asked Jesus into her heart. When she told Mimi she was so happy and hugged and kissed her and told her how proud she was. When she told Poppa he got tears in his eyes and he just kept hugging her and telling her how happy he was. A few minutes later it was time to eat and before Poppa said the prayer he said he had an announcement. He talked a little about how important it is to live for Jesus and have Him in your heart. Then he told everyone that Sophia had asked Jesus to be her Savior and everyone started celebrating the good news. I love that my Dad is such a strong, Godly man and lives his life in a way that glorifies God. So thankful he (and my Mom) were such a good influence on me while I was young and now for my children.
