So I'll cherish the old rugged cross….

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it someday for a crown.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me someday to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Melanie was so sweet to take these pictures for us one night before sunset. They could possibly be some of my favorite photos ever.  I'm framing one for the kids rooms and one for our collage of family silhouettes. This is a hymn that I grew up singing and I think I will frame the lyrics of it also. So perfect.

 I love that the focus is on the cross… exactly where our focus should be. Such a good reminder.
