Carsten has been obsessed with everything construction for the last year so we though a construction birthday party would be perfect :-) I found a ton of cute ideas on Pinterest and ordered most of the stuff online. The day before we had Sophia's Pre-K graduation and that night was the end of the year recital/program at Spanish Schoolhouse. With all that going on, family coming in town and just getting back from Napa I decided it was better to outsource putting it all together. I'm SO glad I did! My friend Allison with Refreshingly Chic helped set it all up and made a few of the yummy desserts. I would definitely recommend her if you need a party planner/executor! Everything was SO cute! And the food truck was definitely a hit! :-)
The morning of the party Carsten slept really late. It should have been a red flag, but he tends to require a lot of sleep so I didn't think anything about it. The party was at 10:30 so around 10:15 I went in to wake him up and he had a 103 fever :-( Poor little guy was burning up. So we grabbed the motrin and some wet wash cloths to cool him down. Obviously it was too late to cancel the party and so we decided to go ahead and have the party and let C go back to sleep for a while. Once I gave him the meds I started to rock him and give him milk in his chair and Poppa Kent came in. He said, "I need to hold that baby boy." So I handed him over and went downstairs to start greeting the guests. So Poppa Kent rocked him back to sleep and when he was totally out he put him in his bed. Then he carried the monitor around for the next hour and a half until he woke up. That is so typical of Dad. Such a care taker :-)
When C woke up he felt SO much better! He came down and joined the party and we just made sure he stayed pretty clear of most of the kiddos. He had a great time despite not feeling 100%. I mean… does this little guy look sick to you?! Sweet baby boy.
Love this so much!
Sooooo sweet.
Can you tell S was on the verge of a melt down? Too much sugar and not enough sleep make for a sad little girl :-(
Oh, Sister.
Carsten and his favorite guy :-)
Love this one so much.
Such a fun day with family and friends! We are so blessed :-)
