Wow... I cannot believe how quickly the past three years have gone by! I know I probably say that every year, but it is so, so true! Over the last year we have loved watching Sophia grow into such a beautiful, little lady. I've always used our blog to preserve milestones/memories, but now with the new baby on the way I feel such an urgency to record every detail of Sophia's personality. Partially because I know I'll forget if I don't write it down (haha!), but also because I want to soak up as much of her as I can while she's still our only 'baby'. I'm not sure if it's the pregnancy hormones, or if it's because I know the days with just two of us are coming to a close, but I have found myself becoming very selfish with her time (i.e. occasionally keeping her home from school/activities/play dates). I'm sure this 'neediness' on my part will eventually pass, but for now I'm just enjoying the extra time, cuddles, kisses and hugs :-)
Our Sweet Sophia,
Hmmm... where do we begin? First of all, we feel beyond blessed to call you our angel and we thank God for you everyday. You have the sweetest, most giving heart (I think you got that from your Daddy). You are such a passionate and emotional child (this may be from Mommy), and you feel everything whole heartedly. You are a born rule follower and feel that everything must be fair. You love to collect things, especially flowers, rocks and 'anything pretty'. You love to paint, color, cut and glue, resulting in a healthy amount of time at your art table. Your incredibly long attention span and focus still amaze us. You have a colorful imagination and love to make up stories, songs and dances. You are a natural performer and love to entertain an audience, especially with dancing. You love to be silly and your belly laugh is infectious. You have an incredible memory, often reminding me of things that happen more than a year ago. You love to talk about Jesus and hear stories from the Bible. Your prayers are so sweet, thoughtful and sincere that it often surprises us.
You are extremely bright and have quite an impressive vocabulary. You started writing (not tracing) all of your letters independently right before your third birthday. You can spell quite a few words/names and recognize many sight words. You are constantly frustrated that you 'can't read yet'. You are fiercely independent and have strong opinions. You occasionally act like what Mommy calls a 'pistol', but you respond well to consequences and discipline. You thrive when we stay on your schedule and routine. You still usually take three hour naps and sleep twelve hours at night (We're sure this won't last much longer). You haven't gotten out of your bed one time (without us coming in to physically get you out of bed) since we transitioned from the crib. You are so excited to be a big sister and always want to know how big the baby is, what he is doing, can he hear you, etc. You love to sing to him, and listen to him 'moving' in Mommy's tummy. We love you more than words can express and we can't wait to see what the next year brings!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
It is crazy how much she has changed! Here is Sophia at 1 year and Sophia at 2 years.
